I am Guy Fenn-Newbury, a Platform/DevOps/Infrastructure Engineer based in High Wycombe, United Kingdom. I specialise in infrastructure automation, particularly through the use of CI/CD pipelines, use of container orchestration (such a Kubernetes), and declarative configuration using tools such as Terraform.

Contracting (2025 - present)

Working with a public sector client of Carbon60 to implement automated practices using VMWare Tanzu/VKS, Ansible, and Packer. Creation of hardened VM images for use in sensitive environments, and support for multiple tenants to consume the provided platform.

Employment (2024 - 2025)

Working with a public-sector client to implement SRE processes to ensure a reliable and stable platform. Providing non-production support to platform users, and working on longer-term project goals, such as the introduction of infrastructure-as-code and the concept of single-sources of truth.

Contracting (2022 - 2024)

Working with a client to migrate from OpenStack and VMs to using a set of Kubernetes clusters managed by ArgoCD, including introducing GitHub Actions as a CI/CD solution.

Working with a client to migrate and upgrade their infrastructure and tools, such as upgrading their bare-metal Kubernetes cluster (from version 1.17 to 1.24), and Terraform (from 0.11 to 1.3).

Employment (2018 - 2021)

Introducing automation across a vast estate of VMs using Puppet, as well as enabling the self-service provisioning of VMs using Terraform. Working with multiple teams to achieve platform migrations from VMWare ESXi to Nutanix AHV, and taking part in an out-of-hours on-call rota to support such migrations.
